Insulated curtains keep temperatures consistent
The UK’s largest provider of lorry tension curtains, Structure-flex, are helping businesses keep their produce fresh over the festive period with their insulated curtains.
According to The Food Manufacture, UK shoppers spent over £14 billion on food and drink in the four weeks leading up to Christmas in 2024.
The most popular food items purchased during this time were fresh fruit, fresh produce and meat, fish and poultry, which grew 10%, 7.4% and 4.4% respectively.
To keep these foods as fresh as possible during transit, delivery vehicles are increasingly using insulated lorry tension curtains from Structure-flex to maintain consistent temperatures inside trucks and trailers.
“Food is a much-loved part of the festive season, so keeping it as fresh as possible is crucial! With our insulated lorry tension curtains, we’re helping keep temperatures consistent and perishable goods as fresh as possible for as long as possible – because Christmas Day wouldn’t be the same without a Christmas dinner!” says Paul Reeve, Managing Director at Structure-flex.
Structure-flex’s lorry tension curtains are manufactured from PVC-coated polyester and are high-frequency welded for high strength.
Their insulated curtains incorporate a separate composite layer of insulated air-filled, aluminium membrane which covers the entire length of the curtain – not just between the vertical buckles.
This creates an additional 10% insulation on each side of the curtain, making them suitable to transport fresh and perishable goods such as vegetables, meat and dairy that require careful temperature control.
“The varying winter weather calls for an extra layer of protection to keep non-frozen perishables at the right temperature during transportation. With strong seams and expert manufacturing, our insulated curtains are the ideal solution” says Paul.
Established 55 years ago, Structure-flex specialise in manufacturing products from flexible plastics using high-frequency welding.
As well as being the UK’s leading supplier of lorry tension curtains, Structure-flex also produce a wide range of other flexible thermoplastic products, including proof test bags, water storage tanks and the flood defence system, Mobildeich.
Previously, Structure-flex have been trusted by leading food and supermarket brands – including Nuovo Foods, Kettle Chips and Co-op – to provide lorry tension curtains for their fleet of delivery vehicles.
“We’re proud to continue supporting top food brands this Christmas. With our durable and insulated lorry tension curtains, food can remain as fresh as possible from warehouse to supermarket to plate” concludes Paul.
